They can wave, or message you directly. It switches itself off on its own, so you never have to remember to take it down.

Catch the ice cream truck
Spot it, tap once, and everyone nearby knows before it turns the corner. Anyone can say whether it is still around, and the pin clears itself after half an hour.
Reports are anonymous and use the same rough location as everything else here, about a block's worth. You never get pinged about a truck you reported yourself.
Events that actually happen
Block parties, garage sales, playdates, a street cleanup on Saturday. One tap to say you are going, and one glance to see who else is.
Talk to one person
Not everything belongs on the feed. Message a neighbor directly when you just need to ask about the fence, or say thanks for the jump start.
Your street, in every language
A neighborhood is rarely all one language. Any post or comment written in another can be translated with a single tap, using the translation already built into your iPhone. It is free, and not a Vicini+ feature.
Tapping it opens Apple's own translation sheet, so the text goes to Apple rather than to us, and we never see it or store it. If you would rather keep translation on your device, iOS has an offline setting for that. The privacy policy spells out exactly what happens.
Nobody gets your address. Including us.
A neighborhood app only works if being on it feels safe, so the location model is the conservative one.
A block of blur
You pick an approximate home area on a map. It is rounded to roughly a block before it ever leaves your phone, and your exact address is never stored.
You choose the radius
Decide how far out you want to see and be seen. Everything in the app is bounded by that number, and you can change it whenever you like.
Report, block, done
Long-press any post or comment to report or block. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours. Read the privacy policy.
The app is free. Plus keeps it that way.

Vicini is free on iPhone in the United States. It takes about a minute to set your area, and nothing about you is public until you decide it is.
